The expression of the golden section in the spiral perfection of shells has intrigued the artist since he first encountered them as a child in French Polynesia, where his father, well known underwater film maker Stan Waterman, took the family to live for a year. Quarries in remote places like Afghanistan, Chile, and Iran yield luscious marbles and onyx into which these exquisite natural forms are carved.
